Hello All
I just purchased a rtp300 router and have read this whole thread and am having problems unlocking my router. I think I have it down to the hex editing, which I can't seem to figure out so I can't load the von10062.bin and downgrade my firmware. If anyone can help it would be greatly appericated I been trying to unlock this router for 3 days thanks. Also after downgrading firmware what do I upgrade to. Thanks |

| Dont try to hexedit that firmware. The 1.0.62 firmware is vonage for the rtp.
Just put it on the tftp server and make sure your tftp server is on the computer with the lan address 192.168.15.100
Take the instructions on the first page one line at a time. |

| Thanks alot for ur quick reply. Im still having problems loading the firmware from the instructions on page 1. The file transfers from the tftp server but router never reboots. I've also tried the instructions on page 6 of the thread with the rtp300_txt file and try to download from von server, the router does reboot but the file is not there Im stumped. I know Im technically challenged but I do have a ubuntu server shared with windows computers and I can't figure this out for nothing. Thanks in advanced. |

1 edit | I loaded the vonage 5.0 firmware back on this thing to see what would happen. Of course in relocked but worth a try...
Ive reunlocked it now.

| Thanks for the help chpalmer I've done the factory reset. I've gotten the console unlocked,but for some reason I can't get the firmware to load or download one or the other. I'll keep trying. Hopefully I'll get it eventually thanks again for the help |

so does this mj on rtp300 still work? I been fighting with it for a few day's now then i notice all the post's were pretty old..
if it does could someone point me to a good tutorial, I have the rtp300 unlocked and i have my name and pw for mj just having problems with all the other settings..

Finally figured out my problem, my dsl was not allowing me to download. Called tech support technician came out put me on new dsl port, downloaded file did firmware changes and now enjoying free phone with google voice and sipgate. Thanks everyone for a nice informative thread |

I have Firmware Version: 3.1.24 on Broadband Router RTP300
and my issue is the password I cannot update the firmware without the username and password and I reset the router as well Anyone know what else I could do to set everything back to factory maybe a menupage somewhere that I haven't seen. I can get in the router with admin/admin then I am stuck at the adminstration page

I think this is what I have to do I think i have a vonage rpt300
because I tried flashing the orginal firmware to the router and it says invalid before I brick it I wanted to make sure if someone in here has done what i have listed below and it works good for them thanks
aslo if someone has done it and still has the fw handy can you pm thanks
* note: use a HEX editor to make these changes.
1. Download the RTP300 3.1.24 firmware from the linksys site (link in previous msg)
2. Open the file in your HexEditor and change offset 0x17 from 4D to 4C.
3. At offset 0x3B0004, change 85 DA 20 BB to 3B A5 4D DA
4. Done!

Hello everyone great post 
I have RTP300 which had 1.01.07 on it I used CYT 3.5 to put 3.1.24 firmware . I did the hex edit (thanks that brought back memories of xtree in the old days).
I still haven't put this unit online yet I am wondering if I need to do more.
After reading about the auto provisioning I am kinda wary.
I did reset as instructed on page one. However I did not do the ping thing.
Should I try get any code off the unit before I go live so to speak if I haven't unlocked it properly will it brick?
I just wish to recycle the unit for use as an ATA with another provider. |

Your router is now free of Vonage and you can connect it to the Internet and start using it with another VoIP company. |

Hi, I have a Vonage WRTP54g (5.01.04) and I am having trouble downgrading to firmware 1.00.62. Everything seems fine up until about 93% of the upload then it starts a snails pace for about 7-8 min. It completes but nothing happens. I saw someone with the same issue earlier in the post. I have confirmed that the wireless is disabled every time I attempt but still end with the same results.
Any suggestions? |

| My problem was my dsl was not working correctly, and it took me a while to figure that out. Only certain things would download and others would not. Called tech support and they solved my problem. After that I followed the instructions on page 1 and had no problems other then hex editing the file which I don't think u need. Follow the instructions on page 1 and make sure ur firewall is disabled and u should be good to go good luck. |
