| reply to montano VOIPo to launch on the first of December? This will be a date to remember!
For those who don't want to BYOD, It may just be the right cup of tea.
One looks forward to how well it may do, and wonders if execs in Holmdel and Cliftonpark feel blue.
VOIPo can enhance the industry's reputation, and spread ethertalk across the big nation.
We need firms whose service is good, to counter the TragicHacks in the neighborhood.
But if December First comes and they still ain't sellin', then they'll look as sluggish as George B. McClellan.
VOIPo to launch on the first of December? Let's hope it will be a date to remember! |

| reply to montano For those of you who want a no nonsense-no BYOD-VOIP service, you can't do better than VOIPo....officially launching today.
Those of us who have been with them during the beta phase, are very well pleased. It's certainly much better than any provider I have tried in the past 3 years-and--the wife is finally satisfied.
Keep an eye open for any possible introductory pricing, but remember...the service is GREAT. |

| reply to montano Hey Everyone,
We've just pushed out the first VOIPo.com site. There are still a few things the designer needs to wrap up with browser compatibility and tweaking some pages. Content needs to be beefed up some, but for the most part it was ready to go so I decided to go ahead and push it.
Orders have been pouring in every day and service has been problem-free, so I feel at this point, we're ready to roll.
Here are some things I can tell you at this point...
1) Phone support and live chat are available from 9-6 CST Mon-Fri at this point.
2) While the service is working quite well, there are still some procedural things I think we could improve upon, but that can only really happen with real volume coming through. We're also still very light in terms of documentation. Neither of these two things are that bad (what we do have in those 2 areas is still better than 80% of the competition), but since these are two areas I still think we could improve in, I did leave the "pre-launch" status in tact.
3) We've extended a pre-launch promotion which is now available to everyone where we're offering a $100 instant discount on our annual plan. The coupon is right on the home page. This will be pulled soon, but is available for the time being to say "thank you" for your patience over the last 2.5 years as we developed our service.
This means anyone can effectively get a year of service for $99 + $36 ($3/Mo x 12 Months - Regulatory Recovery Fee to cover taxes, fees, and compliance) for a total of $135 with no monthly charges at all. There's also a one-time setup fee of $29.95. Shipping is free.
This promotion won't last long. We don't really make money offering service at that pricepoint, but have a huge marketing budget and opted to go with this promotion and take a hit marketing wise for the launch since it was dragged out for so long.
4) We do expect a flood of orders to come through. Order processing and device provisioning is pretty much completely automated, so I don't forsee any issues with getting those processed. We have a large standing weekly shipment of ATAs coming in now so I don't expect that to be an issue. We're prepared to ship a few thousand orders this week typically the next business day.
Depending on the volume that comes in this week, response times/hold times may be a little slower than usual especially since basically everyone handling support is relatively new. Please use e-mail over calling if at all possible. I apologize in advance if you run into any delays due to the launch volume.
5) VIP Launch Group members will get an e-mail later today (we are staggering these e-mails to small batches due to the sheer size of the list so we're less likely to be slammed with questions at the same time). It's just a huge list...significantly larger that we ever dreamed we'd have. By tonight, everyone on it should be notified.
There will be a coupon code in that e-mail good this week that gets you free activation in addition to the $100 discount. If you want to order before you get the e-mail in case we do get slammed and have hardware supply issues, feel free to do so and e-mail support@voipo.com from the e-mail you used on the list. We'll verify it and refund the activation fee to your credit card. |

| reply to montano Wow, I'm impressed with some of the options and would sign up in a heartbeat, but VOIPo is yet another provider that doesn't offer any DIDs in Iowa. Of the few that do cover Iowa, most offer only Sioux City numbers. Vonage has quite a few exchanges all over the state. How do they do it when nobody else can/will?? |

| The price you're quoting for low-cost services like faktortel can't possibly make money (at least not if you want actual customer service, etc...). I'm sure people running an ITSP who hang out here (like bruce, nitzan, brendan, etc...) can confirm this. |

Thanks If you believe that "ALL" voip providers are the same, and the quality of the calls, service, support, etc... are the same; and that the ONLY thing that separates them is price; then you are exactly correct that you aren't seeing anything DIFFERENT. If you realize that ALL providers aren't the same, and that there's a LOT MORE that separates voip providers than price, then you will know what the difference is. later... mike... |

·Future Nine Corpor..
| reply to UHF said by UHF :Vonage has quite a few exchanges all over the state. How do they do it when nobody else can/will?? It has to do with the underlying DID carriers places uses. Level 3, for example, is one of the most common, and they don't offer much Iowa coverage. Future Nine and Vonage are some of the only two providers I know of who have real Iowa coverage. It took me more than a year to find a provider to port a 319 area code number out of Vonage; finally Future Nine was able to do it (for free, too, at that time). |

So far it does appear to be either Vonage or Future Nine if I want a 319 area code, I'm in a small town so likely won't ever get a local number here, even though Alltel/Verizon Wireless has some local numbers.
edit: actually, there are two local voip providers that cover my area, I'm going to see if I can get a phone number from them that terminates to a sip address. |

| reply to montano Congratulations!
But!
Why bother listing area codes 419/567 and a list of cities when each and everyone of the cities listed doesn't have a number available. Heck you couldn't even get Findlay on either 419 or 567 list.
I'd love to try you out, but I don't want to port my # just yet. Not good. I've also got to have over $100 to start, don't have that either. Soooo, looks I'll be waiting this one out. |

| I'm with you. Would love to try it out, but not for $100 when I have a service pre-paid until May that seems to be working quite nicely (now).
Should that change, hopefully I won't have missed the window for a deal. Of course, with the whole house on cell phones, I don't need to worry about minor interruptions in service anyway. |

Heck you couldn't even get Findlay on either 419 or 567 list. The number ordering pools internal inventory with some real-time APIs from various upstream carriers. The area code list on the site is updated weekly to remove any in which numbers are no longer available in, but since there's a delay in that there will occasionally be areas listed without numbers.
If you need a number in an area not showing on the site, contact us and 99% of the time, we can issue one manually on the spot in your chosen area.
If you PM me the specific ratecenter you need, I'll let you know the status of it and can add numbers from there (if I add to our inventory, the order form will dynamically update and show those areas/numbers instantly). |
