It is amazing that so many outstanding reviews of a single VoIP prOvider appeared all at once on DSLReports. Coincidence or collusion? |

nitzan Premium,VIP join:2008-02-27 1 edit | VOIPo. 8 reviews either posted or updated today at 100%. What's the deal??
(note I don't think this is a conspiracy.. just Tim asking people to update their reviews) |

Apparently.
Apparently Voicepulse has allegedly done this also. |

For the record, I was a beta member and for me, with the exception of a few burps here and there, my service has been excellent.
In the world of VOIP, this translates to 100% for me.. |

| reply to Lenagainster Seems fair. However, reminds me of the time others would post negatives questions of their VOIP provider then someone would come along and remind them to post a review knowing it would be negative. So better to look at the whole rather than a single time frame of posts. |

Regarding VOIPo, it is interesting that several statements were previously made on this forum by their management emphasizing that legally and financially VOIPo was a separate business from HostGator.
Now, the VOIPo website says "Backed by HostGator" and "A HostGator Partner".
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember seeing those statements before, and, as I said, they contradict earlier ones. |

»Review of Charter VOIP by RitchieRitch
Is there some sort of taboo against rectifying a very obvious error? |

| reply to PX Eliezer Probably due to VOIPo being a supplier of VoIP for Host Gator.
If you get the Business shared hosting plan, you can get a free toll-free number with the 100 monthly minutes. Much of their sign-ups are HostGator customers, so web the content with such keywords make a lot of sense. They do business with each other, but I still believe they are independently operated. --

1 edit | reply to Lenagainster This is really strange. A few of you make it sound like those who updated have violated some moral code.
Coincidently, at the same time I updated my review, I was updating some drivers for my PC. Should this have been challenged as well? My VOIPo update had only to do with text, as the % was the same as when I first reviewed it.
Maybe a bit of paranoia is surfacing. |

VOIPo - Reliability = 100% I ran out of fingers and toes while counting reported issues over the last month or two. P.S. I realize that not everyone encountered all the various issues.
Ooma - Value for Money = 100% Do they have a crystal ball that tells them how long the service will last? Did they "forget" to count the cost of the equipment? |

Did they "forget" to count the cost of the equipment? If you have been following the VOIPo saga, you surely realized that it was for sure that not everyone had problems. Many of those that did, came to the conclusion that they maybe had programming problems with their routers and yes, once in a while, a user has to be fine tuned due to underlying reasons.
Just as VOIP in general works for some and not for others, a rating scheme has different meanings for some. As I indicated earlier, in today's world of VOIP, for me, VOIPo is perfection....because when I pick up the phone, or better yet, when my wife picks up the phone, a dial tone is heard. |

| reply to Lenagainster For the record, it was posted in the VOIPo forums (by Tim) to come update your review to offset the recent negative reviews. I hope I'm not breaking some unspoken code but I'm an honest person.

So the solution to bad reviews is to ask a few happy users to update their good reviews to hide the bad ones???
And here I thought the solution was to actually improve your service to prevent bad reviews to begin with. Stupid me.
I know the GBU comes with a pretty heavy grain of salt - but come on. Unsuspecting users are going to see the good reviews and think there's nothing wrong with the company, when the fact is that every other day another user pops up with a new problem. Hell, even ViaTalk is more reliable these days...
And those of you actually posting/updating the good reviews - you're playing a role in this too. There's gotta be some DSLReports rule against this kind of crap somewhere. |

| Anonymous, of course..
You are aware that 'everyone' who is able to read a review is also able to write one. It's all in the eyes of the beholder. At some point in time, it will become evident that VOIP is not for everyone, however those who have success are entitled to praise the service...those who don't can complain.
It should be evident that the problems that pop up don't affect everyone...if that were true, virtually no VOIP service would survive.
Whoever you are and whatever service you have, please don't try to preach to those who are actually pleased with their service and are not ashamed to post thusly.. |

| I wasn't speculating. I am a VOIPo user and a member of their forums. It was requested by Tim. He didn't ask for positive or false reviews but he did ask the community to update their reviews because the recent negative reviews carried more weight by being updated often. He figured the GBU weighs more heavily on updated reviews so he wanted to see the scale tip the other way.

| said by Bill44130 :wow!! Isn't that like cheating? As I read what sgarrand wrote, I didn't interpret it to say that Tim is requesting users to go and pump up the ratings. I think he said that because of the way the rating system works, updates can either help or skew the ratings, and he was asking those who haven't updated in a while, to do so. |
