I'm a noob here but managed to unlock my rt31p2 and use it with voipbusterpro and voipdiscount. Just wondering about it will re-lock itself after factory reset, is that include the reset button at the back I meant the 5 second reset not the long ones. thanks |

| A quick push of the reset button shouldn't relock it. That is meant to clear the admin password. The longer button push is meant to reset it. I've tested the long 40 second button push and that did NOT clear the passwords or settings in the voice section, but YMMV. |

| reply to Edcan There are only two uses for the reset button on the RT31P2/WRT54GP2:
1) a quick (less than 5 second) push that is only meant for rebooting the device and nothing else (no, it's not meant for nor has any unintended side effects of clearing passwords or any other settings at all);
2) a push of just under 5 seconds in duration that factory resets the router and, under certain conditions, also the voice module.
Despite the wishful thinking of many posters here, there's NO SUCH THING as a "long" 30-40 second reset on the RT31P2/WRT54GP2--AT ALL, PERIOD. Holding the reset button depressed for any extended length of time DOES NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES accomplish anything beyond what the 5 second reset does. |

I heard you saying in another thread that the username is not user anymore.
I tried all combinations of usernames and passwords I could find and I cannot DOWNGRADE my WRT54GP2 firmware.
Those are the ones I tried
Usernames: user admin vonage Vonage
Passwords: vonage Vonage 8995523 7756112
Is there other password I should be able to try ? |

| said by G0dfather :meister_sd, I heard you saying in another thread that the username is not user anymore. Actually, I said the "user" account isn't active anymore.
It isn't in the new config files, just the "Admin" is. I haven't tried to see if a device that has a known "user" account gets deactivated when a new config file without that user explicitly stated in the new file or if the password is still usable. |
