[Unlock] F1000 reset revisited

Hi, I hope someone can help me with the knowledge I'm missing here. I have a Utstarcom F1000, that was a Vonage phone, and have it working with another service. I am looking at getting into the admin pages, or maybe back dating the firmware to 3.10st, if I can get it somewhere, to use telnet into the Vxware O/S and mess with it there. Does anyone know how to make a provisioning file for this unit? There was a web site in Germany that would generate a password reset file, which is now down, so someone knows how to do this. What I would need is how to make this file, so I can locally host it to the phone. What I have been doing is, I reset the firmware to 3.80st to make my changes, and then, it reloads the vonage 5.09vo firmware, locking my changes in. This works, but I'd rather have it completely unlocked. Can anyone help?

Who do I complain to for sipbroker over callcentric?

I use sipbroker to route tollfree calls using **275*1877xxxxxxx and today I've had sound issues on all 4. Looking at the call stats I only had 3 packets drop during the last call but I experience many more drops in audio on that call. the first call had noise bursts like I'd gotten a modem or fax machine.

Who should I report it too? I'd really like to avoid rounds of email pingpong and finger pointing with callcentric and sipbroker trying to figure out who can fix it.

I called the pstn echo line 909-390-0003 and the sound was normal so i'm leaning towards sipbroker.

I placed a tollfree call with callwithus and had no sound issues so its not my internet connection.

[General] Bare minimum bandwidth needed for softphone

I travel very infrequently out of the country. As luck would have it, I plan to spend 4 days in the near future at a rental beach house in Mexico. The house has "wireless internet". I've rented similar house before. Usually there's a router sitting in a closet somewhere that one can plug into to make the connection wired. With all that said, what's the minimum bandwidth up and down that would be acceptable to make calls from a softphone? Just FYI, I am an F9 customer and the calls are nothing uber-important, just need to stay in contact with the office daily. (The house has no telephone and cellphones never work down at these beach houses)

[General] light-weight softphone w/ G.729 support?

Months ago I saw a recommendation for a low overhead softphone and cannot now locate the thread. Searching sourceforge failed me too.

My current setup is single user, single line, voip.ms and X-lite freebie which does not support G.729. For probably myriad reasons (mostly low-grade TWC infra) service is unstable but would like to remove the CoDec question. From threads here I gather G.729 is the way to go.

Features I'd like are simple configs and call recording. Needs to be free (or sub 20$ with a trial period).

Thanks for any softphone tips.

Cheapest port and virtual number?

Last time I was here you all recommended voip.ms to me for cheapness and a large amount of virtual numbers w/ call forwarding/global call hunt needed.. but I see there port fee is $25 per number just wondering if I can do better..??
[General] Hi-def support, provider and phones, for H.323, G729,

I am currently using VoIPo.com. They have been a great provider. So far I have used an iPhone 3G running Siphon VoIP application For headset calls, I use Zoiper softphone connected via bluetooth. I have a Linksys ATA, but don't really use it other than as a corded phone ringer. My philisophy is direct digital onto the internat, without A/D conversions in the phones and ATA.
http://code.google.com/p/siphon/

I would like to use hi-def codecs, and would possibly like to try video calls also. What I hear from Voipo.com is they only support G711u codec. What if I am calling another voip number? If they support the more-advanced codec, won't the call proceed as G729 or G722.2? Siphon supports G772.2, I can get a softphone that supports G729 and H.323 (smart dialer from unicorn). Does VoiPo.com only support SIP and not H.323?

Advanced Voip users, please advise as to my most likely path with providers and phones/software to utilize hi-def when available, and fall back to G711u when not

[Future9] Calls to Luxor Resort 877 number fails to connect

When I call 877-386-4658, a TF number for the Luxor resort in Las Vegas, I get a strange message about being forwarded to a voicemail system.

When I call the number from my cell and through voip.ms the call completes correctly.

Anyone else with Future9 having this issue? I wanted to verify before sending a support email. All other TF numbers appear to work fine through Future9. Not sure why this one is failing.

Thanks.

[Equipment] VTA-VR firmware 1.09 "-NA"

Anyone care to try a VTA-VR "-NA" firmware made from the vonage version 1.09 ?
I am not using these adapters much so I am not sure if vonage made any improvement over the version 1.08.
However there are some changes that I made myself to the web interface:
- I noticed that if a settings page has too many options only some of them save. So I reduced the number of options (took out some that didn't seem too important) from Line 1 and Line 2 but all the ones left save properly. The limit seems to be at around 25-30 settings
- the Dial Plan was one of most important things that would not save even after reducing the number of options per page. For that I had to do some replacements in the string before saving
- the newest firmwares for all the CYT based devices, prevent saving the SIP username and password through the web interface. I fixed that too.
So for anyone wanting to try the new firmware here it is: http://rapidshare.com/files/333228451/vta109-na.zip
